Here is where we currently stand with regard to upcoming Sunday service preaching / teaching assignments. Since any given passage may require more than one Sunday to cover, it is not possible to provide a complete forward-looking calendar.
Please stay in communication with the speakers before you and after you about how many weeks you expect to need for your assigned passages.
Preparing Your Message
Please also be sure to do the following:
Before your message:
- Create a scripture notes sheet, print out 40 – 60 copies, and bring it with you to hand out on Sunday
- Prepare 3 – 4 discussion questions for the life groups.
After your message:
- Send me your sermon title
- Send me your scripture notes document (the one that you handed out on Sunday)
- Send me your discussion questions
I’d like to have all of these by Sunday evening!

Communion Procedure (including confession)
Leader will give a brief introduction explaining that communion is only for followers of Jesus and that we should examine ourselves before taking it. Congregation will get index cards to write confession (Cards will be located on/under chairs.). Instructions are given about what to write on”confession” cards. (That is, if there is a specific confession i.e.- relationships, materialism, gossip, etc.; otherwise it is a general confession prompted by the Holy Spirit). People will get up and put the cards in the basket, pick up elements and return to seat. Elements will be spread on 2 tables along with basket for cards.
Pronouncement of the Lord’s forgiveness (after acknowledging the cards that have been put in the basket).
“We have had the opportunity to confess our sins before the Lord. Now hear what scripture says in Psalm 103:8-12: The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. “Thank you Lord for your forgiveness.”Â
Communion will proceed with the following excerpt from 1 Corinthians 11:23-25: “For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me”. “The body of Christ, broken for you. Let’s eat together” – (congregation eats bread) “In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me” “The blood of Christ, shed for the forgiveness of your sin and mine. Let’s drink together” “Lord thank you for your sacrifice”.
